enabling RTTY Skimserv 10 Hz native spot source
Will we see DXS support 10 Hz resolution? 73, Pat W3RGA ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Dave Pascoe KM3T via groups.io <km3t=km3t.org@groups.io> Date: Sat, Mar 14, 2026 at 7:58 AM Subject: Re: [RBN-OPS] 10 Hz spots - enabling RTTY Skimserv 10 Hz native spot source To: <RBN-OPS@groups.io> Just a followup on this. The RBN team released some UI and performance improvements yesterday. Included in this release is 10 Hz resolution support for RTTY (only RTTY). 73, Dave KM3T on behalf of the RBN team On 3/4/26 12:30 AM, Björn SM7IUN wrote: If this only applies to RTTY, and since skimmers support it, I can see the use case. As I mentioned, for CW and SSB I don't. An ugly way to bypass the fact that RBN cuts the second decimal is to include the frequency (or a fraction of it) in the comment. Like with some JT modes. But this would still require changes to Aggregator. Björn, SM7IUN On Tue, Mar 3, 2026 at 11:44 PM N2WQ via groups.io <r_bakalov= yahoo.com@groups.io> wrote:
Dave, that would be awesome! VE3EID-1 has been 10 Hz since day one.

Not yet, but that could be looked at. I don't recall whether there was a show-stopper on that.

Except RBN does not support 10 Hz.

RTTYSkimserv will produce 10 Hz spots if the op enables that feature (it's 100 Hz by default). Simple change to the .INI.
I don't know how many RTTY skim serv guys run with that option enabled though so some publicity on encouraging that in the RBN community would be of benefit.

With RTTY Skimsev running, click on the EDIT SETTINGS button. Then scroll down to the [Telnet] section of the RTTY Skimmer .ini file. Make sure this line is present, with "=1" at the end. Like this: TensHz=1

Assuming the frequency adjustment for a given skimmer is set properly, this would at least provide a richer set of granular spots for whatever statistical fiddling a guy would want to do with native sourced spots.

Remember folks, this isn't just for CW. The RY guys have been screaming for 10 Hz for a long time. Changing resolution alone does not do a lot, but it is a starting point to support other improvements. Without these smaller changes we don't have progress.
